Tottenham’s decision to walk away from a €30m deal for striker Gift Orban might have been the right one, at least if his current form is anything to go by.
Het Laatste Nieuws cover the player today and the ‘serious slump’ that he currently finds himself in at the beginning of this season.
They explain that while the player remains himself, social and smiley, his performances on the pitch are not what they were last season.
His last goal came back on August 20th and that’s an eternity for a striker who scored consistently last season and was a ‘sensation’. This year, ‘things have gone completely wrong’.
It’s been a big drop off for a player who was linked with a move away throughout the summer, with Tottenham in particular keen on him.
They eventually pulled out of a potential deal as they considered ‘the gamble was too big’ at the time and wanted to see more from the striker, believing he still had to confirm himself at a higher level.
They are now watching ‘with suspicion’, analysing how he works in this current situation and how he comes out of it, or if he comes out of it at all.
At the moment it seems Tottenham made the right decision to walk away and not pay what was asked, despite a need to replace Harry Kane.
