Fulham are set to miss out on the signing of Almeria striker El Bilal Touré after making a late, ‘superior offer’ for the player.
That’s according to journalist Marc Mechenoua, who says Marco Silva’s side made a late bid for the striker to try and get him ahead of Atalanta.
El Bilal Touré has found himself in a tug of war between Everton and Atalanta this summer, with both sides determined to secure his signature.
It’s the Italian side who have won the race eventually, with the striker set for a medical at the club today before finalising a €28m + €3m move for him.
Fulham have not been in the race for his signature at all, but Mechenoua says they made a late bid, offering a ‘higher offer’ than Atalanta in recent days.
That, though, wasn’t enough to convince the player and he has stuck firm in his desire to move to Serie A with Atalanta.
Why Fulham have left their bid so late isn’t mentioned, although an effort to sign another striker isn’t surprising given the turmoil around Aleksandar Mitrovic.
He’s pushing for a move to Saudi Arabia and while Fulham have rejected any approaches so far, perhaps they were looking to get ahead of the game before eventually relenting.
#Mercato
