Fulham star Andreas Pereira has insisted he has no plans to leave Fulham any time soon, even if the door to a return to Brazil is never truly closed for him.
The midfielder has been speaking to GE Globo, in which he’s expressed his delight at how things are currently going for him at Fulham.
The 28-year-old joined Marco Silva’s side in 2022 and has established himself as one of the key players since, with nine goals and 15 assists in 91 games to date.
This year has proven to be a particularly profitable one for him, particularly on the international stage, as he made his return to the Brazil squad in March.
He hadn’t featured for them since making his debut in 2018 but has been a regular in the squad since, featuring against England, Spain, Mexico, USA, Paraguay, Colombia, Uruguay and Peru in international friendlies, the Copa America and World Cup qualifying.
His return has been reward for the important role he plays at Fulham where he remains a key cog in their attacking output, currently sitting second in the table for ‘decisive passes’, tied with Cole Palmer and one behind Bukayo Saka.
At 28-years-old he has plenty left in the tank but like many South American players Pereira has regularly been linked with a return to his homeland. That’s something he admits is on the cards, albeit not any time soon.
“I’m feeling good physically, mentally and also off the field,” he said.
“I’m calm with my children, my family, more mature, so I think everything aligned. Today I am harvesting everything that was done in previous years.
“In addition to this confidence of returning to the national team and scoring a goal, feeling important in my club and in the national team. I think this all helps with the player’s confidence, and I’m feeling at my best
“There are always, always some conversations, I never close the doors to Brazilian clubs. But I’m focused here on Fulham at the moment, I know I have two more years on my contract and I’m having a good season. I can’t say “next year” or “in two, three years”, but I definitely want to return to Brazil one day.”
