On Tuesday morning, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo reported Benfica’s latest rejection to Fulham’s attempt to sign Morato.
It was claimed the most recent bid from the Whites was €21m, and with that turned down by the Eagles, the outlet brought no news on whether Marco Silva’s side would return with more money.
Now it seems they will. At least according to A Bola, who now say Fulham are preparing a new bid for the signing.
It’s claimed the Whites ‘promise’ to return for the transfer, and this new offer could reach €25m.
As for personal terms, A Bola say it’s ‘certain’ Fulham would pay Morato more than what he makes at Benfica, even if he had a pay rise from the Eagles in a new contract.
What is interesting is that in the report’s first paragraph, which says the Eagles turned down the latest bid, it’s claimed that there’s ‘no interest in selling’ at the Lisbon side, and that’s why they didn’t even present a counteroffer.
Then when A Bola mention that Fulham could now bid €25m, it’s claimed that ‘it starts not to be easy’ for Benfica to find arguments to keep the player. The outlet even wonder how long the Portuguese club will manage to ‘resist’ the Whites attempts.
