Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez should perhaps consider a move elsewhere to ensure he is a part of Mexico’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

That’s according to Chivas record goalscorer Omar Bravo, who has sung the striker’s praises to TUDN.

Jiménez currently finds himself act something of a crossroads in his career, having turned 33-years-old in May and now very much in the latter stages of his playing career.

That saw him being linked with a return to Mexico this summer, with Club América linked over the last few months and reportedly considering bringing him back.

That came about as Jiménez had fallen out of favour under Marco Silva last season, with Rodrigo Muniz impressing last season and establishing himself as the number one striker at Craven Cottage.

A deal never happened as Club América looked elsewhere but Jiménez has not ruled out a return to his homeland in future.

That’s a path plenty of players take at the ends of their careers, playing for their former clubs before bringing things to an end.

Bravo believes that might be a good idea for Jiménez, although he would have been happy to see the Fulham man move to Chivas rather than former club América

“I’m leaning towards Raúl Jiménez, I even liked him for Chivas, you have to score goals and people will always recognise your professionalism, if you come and put on that shirt with a lot of responsibility, go ahead,” he said.

“It (his injury) weakened him, but he reinvented himself and is playing again despite the medical condition he had. He is a great player, and he is Mexican, of course he can be considered.

“Very complete (as a player), I have seen few at that level to be in a top team in the world before the accident (head fracture), you have to overcome it and move forward.

“The national team must have players who compete, it is something natural to be able to grow, I saw from a distance that sometimes he had minutes and other times not so much.

“I saw that Chivas occupied someone in that position with experience, hierarchy, who knew about responsibility, taking minutes in an important team and taking it to the national team, who arrived with a better rhythm towards a world competition.”
