Fulham and Everton tried to sign Ajax’s Carlos Forbs before he completed a loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
That’s at least what De Telegraaf are reporting, and they state that Fulham and Everton had shown ‘concrete’ interest in the 20-year-old on deadline day.
As well as the Premier League duo, Lyon had positioned themselves. However, Fulham, Everton and the Ligue 1 side missed out on the winger to Wolves.
Gary O’Neil’s side were successful in completing the necessary formalities and paperwork on time, to complete Forbs’ signing.
The Portugal U21 international arrived at Ajax from Manchester City in August 2023. He was restricted to 1,410 minutes from 32 games in all competitions and managed three goals and five assists in the process.
That didn’t put off Wolves, Fulham, Everton and Lyon, before the former won the battle for the player’s signature. Forbs’ move to Molineux will help the Dutch club save his salary of €1.5m per year and receive €2.5m in loan fee
In addition to this, there’s an obligation to buy set at €13.5m if Forbs is in the ‘starting line-up 10 times’ in the Premier League this season.
