The front page of Tuesday’s edition of A Bola says Pedro Neto could be set to join Sporting on loan this summer.
Inside, it’s even stated the transfer could take shape in the coming days. There’s a ‘window of opportunity’ to get the Wolves attacker and Sporting are primed to make the swoop.
However, in a slightly unusual move, Record have quickly turned up to completely dismiss the claims. They say they’ve spoken to an official source at the Lisbon club, and that source has told them Sporting have no interest in signing Neto from Wolves, even on a loan basis.
A Bola won’t have given their front page to this having simply grasped something from thin air, so it’s clear someone is pushing this story to them.
The 23-year-old is represented by Gestifute, so this could be a case of the agency, headed by Jorge Mendes, trying to find somewhere Neto can move to on loan.
The young attacker saw last season seriously interrupted by injury, and there may be some temptation to move somewhere he can be a near nailed-on starter.
Pedro Neto has a Wolves contract lasting until 2027.
