Reports that Benjamin Šeško has agreed to join Arsenal are wide of the mark.

That’s according to Slovenian outlet Ekipa, who report that their sources in the ‘circle close to Benjamin Šeško’ have denied the Arsenal rumours.

A report from Sport Bild today stated Šeško has agreed to join Arsenal, and the Gunners could pay €80-100m. They’ve reportedly contacted Leipzig to open negotiations and the initial offers were not below the German club’s expectations.

That was certainly a surprising report, given Arsenal have seemingly show reluctance to pay similar fees for Viktor Gyökeres this summer.

Well, now Ekipa pour cold water all over the suggestion. They say that their sources, close to the striker, insist that it is false information, and ‘the truth is different’.

In other words, they’re not having any of it and their sources aren’t impressed either. So, sorry Arsenal fans, it seems it’s not time to get excited about a big bid for Šeško’ yet.

To be clear, this is what Sport Bild reported: ‘Šeško and Arsenal agree – transfer fee up to €100 million!

The biggest opponents are his teammates. SPORT BILD knows: Šeško (22) and Arsenal FC have reached an agreement.

The London club have announced an official offer to RB Leipzig, which will not be below Leipzig’s expectations. This means: Arsenal are gambling for a price between €80 and €100 million.’

As we pointed out this morning, that was something of a surprise, given Bild, part of the same group, reported the following this week: ‘While Arsenal London, Manchester United, and two clubs from Saudi Arabia have already expressed interest, according to BILD, the Slovenian striker hasn’t agreed on a transfer fee with any club. Leipzig bosses haven’t yet entered into concrete negotiations with any club regarding a transfer fee, including Arsenal, with whom Šeško has been repeatedly linked.’
