Eli Junior Kroupi’s injury is the big news at Bournemouth. However, fresh details from France have provided more insight into both his recovery and the transfer interest surrounding him.
RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports the 20-year-old underwent successful surgery on Wednesday. This was after he suffered a fracture to his fifth metatarsal.
The outlet explains the fifth metatarsal is the bone on the outside of the foot, connecting the little toe to the base of the foot. While Bournemouth have not announced a precise recovery timetable, the expectation is that Kroupi could spend around three months on the sidelines.
That broadly aligns with reports elsewhere. These suggest the striker could miss between three and four months.
Injury interrupts momentum
The timing is particularly unfortunate given Kroupi’s impressive first season in England.
Signed by Bournemouth for €13m (£11.3m) in February 2025 before remaining on loan at Lorient until last summer, the Frenchman scored 13 goals in 35 Premier League appearances during the 2025/26 campaign.
That made him the first 19-year-old to score 13 goals in his debut Premier League season.
Transfer interest remains despite setback
The report also revisits Kroupi’s growing list of admirers. Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with the Bournemouth forward. This has happened in recent months, but the Cherries have no intention of selling him this summer.
RMC Sport adds that Kroupi himself is attracted by PSG’s project and has admirers inside the European champions. Even so, the Paris club have not made a move during the current transfer window.
Instead, the French side are simply keeping a close eye on one of Europe’s brightest young forwards. This fits their strategy of identifying elite prospects before their value climbs even higher.
For Bournemouth, though, the priority is now far simpler. With surgery completed successfully, the focus shifts entirely to Kroupi’s rehabilitation before he can resume the progress that made him one of the Premier League’s breakout young stars last season.
