Italian outlet Il Messaggero today features a piece with the many free agents who could still be signed following the end of the transfer window.
One of the names which stands out is Diego Costa, who’s been without a club since rescinding his contract with Atletico Madrid.
Il Messaggero claims that several clubs have been given the chance to sign the Brazilian striker, including some in the Premier League, such as Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
The report claims that super agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to find Costa a new club, and points out he’s also been linked to Boca Juniors. According to the claims, Mendes has offered the player to both Spurs and the Hammers.
Il Messaggero doesn’t seem to know what was the Tottenham and West Ham response to the offer, as all they claim is that many clubs consider the signing to be high risk.
Diego Costa had two goals in seven appearances for Atletico Madrid this season, and last played an official match on the 22nd of December.
Spanish reports are now suggesting the decision to allow his contract to be rescinded may not have been the wisest.
