Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign Krépin Diatta on a free transfer this summer.

The Senegal international ended his five-year spell at AS Monaco in June and is currently without a club.

That could change soon as Crystal Palace want to open their door to the 27-year-old.

On June 4th, Sport Witness relayed news that the English club and Bayer Leverkusen will battle for his signature.

At that time, the Bundesliga side were on pole, after holding two meetings with his agent, and were facing a threat from Pierre Sage’s side.

Crystal Palace now in pole

Africa Foot now have a report on the free agent, titled: ‘Crystal Palace in pole position for Krépin Diatta’.

Within the report, they claim both the Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen are keen. Diatta came close to reaching an agreement with the German club before Palace made firm advances.

Their efforts have paid off as the winger, who can also operate as a wing-back and a right-back, is now ‘close to joining’ the Eagles.

Crystal Palace ready to meet request

A source close to the player told Africa Foot that he is demanding €2.5m, likely net, per year.

Pierre Sage’s side are ready to meet his request, which has brought them closer to securing his services.

The same source said: ‘Currently, Crystal Palace is in pole position in the negotiations. They are ready to pay the salary demanded by the player [€2.5m]. Discussions are at an advanced stage, and the player would also like to play in the English Premier League.’
