Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has emerged as a target for Ajax in the winter market.
The Eredivisie winners have Jay Gorter, Remko Pasveer and Maarten Stekelenburg as the three stoppers in the squad. The latter two, 39 and 40 years of age, have contracts expiring at the end of this season.
Ajax need to invest in a new goalkeeper, and this is where the Brentford player comes into the picture.
According to AS, Ajax have already contacted the 27-year-old’s representatives to ‘convey their interest’ and find out about the Spain international’s position on changing clubs in January.
Raya has just over 18 months left on his contract and the ball is now in the Bees’ court.
The report states Thomas Frank’s side must decide whether or not they want to negotiate his sale.
The Spaniard has become ‘indisputable’ starter for Frank at Brentford. Without a renewal, Raya’s price tag will be lowered with each passing window.
Villarreal’s Gerónimo Rulli is also on Ajax’s agenda. His high salary plus the La Liga side’s reluctance to part ways with him makes it difficult for the Dutch champions to sign Rulli in January.
