Earlier on Wednesday, we covered an article in L’Equipe claiming that Tottenham and Schalke 04 had undergone positive negotiations about Nabil Bentaleb, and a loan could be on the cards.
Well, according to an update from the French newspaper, the transfer seems to be on for good as the player has already travelled to pass his medical.
There was some doubt whether or not the transfer would happen as the German side were also interested in bringing Benjamin Stambouli, formerly of Tottenham and now at Paris Saint-Germain, to Gelsenkirchen.
However, it would seem the Bundesliga side have now decided they want both, and Stambouli was on his way to Germany to join Bentaleb on Wednesday afternoon.
While the deal for the PSG midfielder appears to be a permanent transfer for around €10m, Nabil Bentaleb will only be joining the German outfit on a loan deal, albeit with an option to buy of €20m activated if certain clauses are met.
BILD announced on their Twitter the deal for the Algerian should be made official tomorrow.
#Bentaleb ist schon auf #Schalke, soll morgen offiziell verkündet werden. #Stambouli macht morgen den Medizincheck.
