When you look ahead to the summer transfer window, it’s undeniable that Jadon Sancho is likely to be one it’s most prominent players.

England forward is the star of the show at Borussia Dortmund, with 14 goals and 13 assists in 20 league games this season only further enhancing his reputation.

Lionel Messi is the only other player who has surpassed ten in both categories, and as such, everyone wants Sancho this summer. It seems, though, that Chelsea are leading the race.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say ‘Europe’s biggest clubs’ are all keen on taking Sancho away from Dortmund this summer.

It is Chelsea who are ‘most advanced’, though, with it stated they have ‘plans to give it (a move) a try this summer’.

Should they do so, it will likely take a monumental fee to convince Dortmund, who are looking likely to set to a new German transfer record, which is currently Ousmane Dembélé’s £112.5m move to Barcelona in 2017.

However, whether Chelsea would be willing to pay such a fee or have any genuine interest in Sancho is debatable.

While there is plenty of hype and he would fit into and improve Frank Lampard’s squad immensely, they’ve just signed Hakim Ziyech to fill that role and thus the need to sign someone like Sancho isn’t there anymore.

Indeed, this feels more like speculation on L’Equipe’s part with no big clubs yet to make their move.
