From France: Aston Villa have submitted €17m offer for Ligue 1 player

On Friday, we covered claims from Germany that Aston Villa are preparing an offer worth €18m for Milot Rashica.

Werder Bremen were presented as being keen on a sale, and there was confidence a deal could be done with the Premier League club.

If a fresh claim from France is correct, Rashica isn’t the only attacker Villa have on their radar. FootMercato report the Birmingham club have offered €17m for Bertrand Traore.

This isn’t enough for Lyon, who are looking to receive €25m for the player. He’s spoken this summer about wanting to be a regular starter and sounded frustrated with his situation, so a transfer has been on the cards.

As well as Aston Villa, it’s reported Fulham, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are also keen on the the 25-year-old former Chelsea player.

Lyon need to sell players this summer to help balance their finances, and it’s conceivable that a deal for Traore could be done.

He played 35 matches last season, mainly on the right wing, and scored four goals, adding five assists. It’s rare he got the full 90 minutes, so that’s where the frustration will be coming from.
