Aston Villa are throwing some financial weight around this transfer window as they look to bounce back from their Premier League relegation straight away.
The arrival of Chinese investors and the trimming of deadwood (Joleon Lescott) has got fans smiling again, and a big transfer is about to widen those grins a little bit more.
According to France Football, Aston Villa have splashed a rather impressive €20m (£17.1m) on Bristol City’s Ivorian striker Jonathan Kodjia, who will be joining them on a four-year contract.
The 26-year-old scored 21 goals in all competitions last season for The Robins, including 18 in 45 league games, and it seems Roberto Di Matteo sees him as the ideal man to help his get the goals needed to fire them back up the table after a poor start (five points in five games)
The well-travelled (around France) striker arrived in Bristol for a small fee of £2.5m when the Championship club bought him from Angers in Ligue 1.
Jonathan Kodjia has so far picked up one assist in four league games for Bristol City this season.
