Former PSV manager Aad de Mos has told the Dutch media Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel hasn’t convinced him since returning to the Netherlands. Van Ginkel is currently on loan from Chelsea with PSV as he looks to regain his match fitness, following his latest injury.
Speaking to Voetbal International, De Mos said Van Ginkel isn’t the one to save PSV’s season after a poor start. The Dutchman said the hype surrounding the Chelsea loanee is nonsense and he hasn’t seen anything from the player which would be back this up. De Mos said he’s recently watched the Netherlands international and as yet he’s not been that impressed.
“The Van Ginkel hype is nonsense. He is not the saviour. Even with Van Ginkel in the squad last season PSV have not won anything. I’ve seen the last weekend of exhibition games against Borussia Dortmund and SC Freiburg. For me he could not convince,” said the former PSV coach.
Van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse in 2013, but so far has only played two league games for the West London side. During his time at Chelsea he’s been sent out on loan to Vitesse, Stoke City, AC Milan, and now he’s having his second spell at PSV.
Injury has been a factor for Van Ginkel not making an impact since arriving at Chelsea and Antonio Conte thought it would be best to loan the youngster out again.
