Former Leeds United forward Andy Ritchie believes the injury to club captain Liam Bridcutt is a blow to Garry Monk. The Scotland international has been ruled out for the next eight weeks following a fracture to his foot.
Writing in his column for the YEP, Ritchie said it was disappointing to hear Monk in his press conference confirm Birdcutt wouldn’t play in the next couple of months, but believes the team need to move on. The former Leeds United star thinks Monk needs to deal with the situation, and realise he will be without his leader until at least December.
“The news that Liam Bridcutt is out for a spell with a foot injury is a blow, though. Just when you think you are going on top of things… But Garry has to take that on the chin and work out a solution to that.,” said Ritchie on the Leeds United midfielder.
Bridcutt re-joined Leeds United in the summer after his successful loan spell with the Championship side last season. The 27-year-old was installed as the captain of the club following the exit of Sol Bamba last month, but has already missed the last few games with his foot injury.
