Things haven’t gone quite according to plan for Jose Mourinho in his first few months at Manchester United.

The Premier League giants sacked Louis van Gaal at the end of the last season before appointing the former Chelsea boss, and that was followed by some very big name signings.

Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Eric Bailly made their moves to Old Trafford, and many expected Manchester United to challenge for the title this season.

However, Manchester United are currently eighth in the Premier League table with just 15 points after 10 matches.

The latest disappointment was the draw against Burnley at home, and Jose Mourinho was sent off during the match for his conduct. As expected, Mourinho has been facing a lot of criticism in the media, and many think he has already lost his cool at Manchester United.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit has been speaking to French media outlet SFR Sport.

He said: “I sometimes fear for the mental health of Jose Mourinho.”

At the moment, old Arsenal favourite Petit isn’t the only one who might think that way, and rival fans, particularly those at Arsenal, are obviously enjoying the manager’s struggles right now.

Mourinho has long had an issue with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, previously saying the Gunners boss was a ‘specialist in failure’. With Arsenal on level points with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, and given Mourinho’s performance last season, and so far in this campaign, perhaps that comment is looking increasingly unwise.

Petit won the double in 1998 with Arsenal, and the following season was in the Premier League team of the year.
