Argentine international Angel Di Maria has raised concerns over his future at Paris Saint-Germain beyond this season, while stressing that he is happy at Parc des Princes.

The 30-year-old arrived at the French capital in 2015, just after spending one season at Manchester United. After a good start to his Ligue 1 career, the winger dropped down the pecking order, following the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe last summer.

However, an injury to Neymar saw PSG manager Unai Emery include him in his starting lineup since mid March. He has 24 starts to his name in the Ligue 1, but the former Real Madrid star expressed his unhappiness after the ex-Sevilla coach did not use him regularly earlier in the season.

Di Maria is aware that PSG will further strengthen the squad in the summer transfer window and to do that, they will have to let go few of their current players. Thus he is unsure if he will be with the French champions next season.

“I do not know (if I will be at PSG next season), football is very weird … I’m happy here, but the club needs to bring in players and, for that, they have to sell other players,” Di Maria told France Football.

“I was very disappointed not to be included in the starting XI, because I was in a good position. I was just “boiling” because I had the feeling that I should have played more, or at least come into play and I did not have the opportunity.”

Meanwhile, Di Maria’s former club Real Madrid knocked them out of the Champions League in the round of 16 this season. The Spanish capital club have sealed a berth in the final after registering a 4-3 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich.

The PSG winger believes his side do not lack anything to win Europe’s elite club competition, but stressed “mistakes” resulted in their elimination from the Champions League in the last two seasons.

“I think we do not miss anything. We have the right players to win the Champions League,” he said.

“In recent years, we have shown that Paris can achieve great things, even if we did not know how to take a chance when it came (…) We made mistakes that led us to be eliminated twice at this stage of the competition.”
