Arsenal’s Mika Biereth was on loan at SK Sturm Graz during the second half of the last season, managing nine goals and four assists from 22 games.
Last month, Sturm Graz sporting director Andreas Schicker talked about his side’s desire to bring the 21-year-old back to the club in the summer window. He also said he’s in talks with Arsenal.
Recent claims from the UK have stated the Austrian champions plan to sign the striker on another loan deal, and this is now dismissed by Kronen Zeitung.
The Denmark U21 international started training with Arsenal U21s on Monday. Behind the scenes, the Sturm Graz director is involved in intense negotiations with the Gunners over signing him.
Biereth has a year left on his contract at Arsenal, and Schicker claims they are not willing to send him out on a loan deal this summer.
“Mika is in the last year of his contract and the club wants to sell him,” he said.
The player could see himself back at Sturm Graz, and they are working to agree a deal with the north London club to buy him.
“Now we have to find a solution with Arsenal,” Schicker explained.
Biereth initially joined Arsenal’s academy in 2021 and hasn’t made an appearance for the first team.
