Boavista have announced the amount they made from Mika’s sale to Sunderland.

According to an official statement, the Portuguese side received €470k, free of taxes and commissions.

CapturarThis was considered very good business for Boavista, since the goalkeeper’s contract was expiring at the end of the  current season and the club only part of his registration anyway.

Reports from Portugal said his former club Benfica owned a 50% share, with Boavista and an investment fund having the other half.

Sunderland will have had to buy out everyone involved, as such ownership structures aren’t permitted in the Premier League.

Mika is still to debut for the Black Cats. He made the bench for the 3-0 loss against Everton last Monday.

The player’s transfer almost failed due to last minute technical problems, and given it was Boavista’s last chance to sell the player, it’s understandable they were so keen for the move to finally go through.
