Having finally lived up to all his promises this season with Bologna, Joshua Zirkzee has caught the eye of many clubs, including Manchester United.
The Dutch striker has been linked with the Red Devils by various sources, some in Germany, others in Italy, and it’s the latter, with Sport Italia, who have an article on him on Friday.
They write that following his performances, Manchester United appear to be ‘in pole position’ for the 22-year-old, who can also return to Bayern Munich if the Bavarians pay €40m thanks to a buy-back clause.
For any other clubs, Zirkzee would cost more, as Bologna are also readying themselves to lose him in the summer, knowing they will get a nice ‘capital gain’ from a sale in exchange for a ‘staggering sum’.
They explain the Serie A side are asking for ‘around €50m’ to sell their star in the summer, all depending on whether Bayern take an interest.
That’s unlikely, however, since they paid through the nose for Harry Kane last summer, and bringing back their former youngster to sit behind him wouldn’t really appeal to the player anyways.
As for Manchester United, they could satisfy Bologna’s demands by ‘pouring €50m’ into their coffers, allowing them to bolster their attack and take some burden off the shoulders of the young and still developing Rasmus Højlund.
