Brighton and Hove Albion’s move for St. Pauli manager Fabian Hürzeler is ‘far from finalised’ and could be killed by the German side if they want to do so.
That’s according to BILD, who say sports director Andreas Bornemann is a ‘tough negotiator’ and will have no problem killing off Brighton’s attempts if he feels like it.
The newspaper reports that a deal to take Hürzeler to Brighton is far from being finalised despite it being widely reported that the 31-year-old could be announced as the new Seagulls coach at some point this week.
They say while it is clear Hürzeler would be more than happy to accept the offer from the Premier League side and is reported to have verbally agreed a deal until 2027, St. Pauli are yet to give their consent.
They’re remaining firm in their stance to ensure they get a hefty transfer fee for their manager and Bornemann won’t back down. He wants the best for his club and will continue to block the move if needs be, even stopping it entirely if required.
That seems unlikely to happen as Bornemann has been planning for such a scenario for some time and BILD believe he probably has a shortlist of replacements already drawn up.
He won’t need to move on that front until Brighton match his demands, which it seems they are yet to do.
