It’s fair to say that Italian opinions on Fabio Paratici are mixed.
During his time in charge of transfers for Juventus, the official received some praise for low-cost signings, and picking up some free-agents. However, when those moves didn’t work, and the assumed profits didn’t arrive, the Turin club were left with some players on big wages who they didn’t fully want.
Creative accounting practices have also come back to bite Juventus, and Paratici’s name often pops up when the problems are highlighted.
When he looked towards Juventus at the end of the window, and signed Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, there were many Italian media jokes about Paratici still working for the Serie A side.
Given Tottenham’s current poor run, and Antonio Conte’s clear frustration, the situation continues to be highlighted in Italy.
FCInter1908 quote journalist Fabio Ravezzani speaking about the Spurs problems, in view of the last market: “Conte is in his third consecutive defeat in the league, despite the (a lot) money spent by Tottenham for him, Kulusevski and Bentancur. Paratici seems slightly guilty to me…”
Fabrizio Biasin, another Italian journalist, who isn’t a fan of Paratici, has also questioned the signings.
It’s unlikely the Italian media will send the biggest share of blame towards Conte, and Paratici should expect to see his reputation further hit if Tottenham don’t quickly get out of their current situation.
