After claims from Spain saying the Pau Lopez transfer to Tottenham is “almost closed”, there are some saying it could be done tonight.
According to AS, the goalkeeper is only waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement and knows that today’s training session could be his last at Espanyol.
Tottenham reportedly speeded up yesterday, matching the Spanish side demands and offering €600k for the loan, which would have a buying option of €7m. Espanyol would also want to include a clause which means the Spurs would have to pay a fee in case they decide not to keep the player.
AS claims Lopez could be heading to London in the next few days and finally fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League, since Mauricio Pochettino will have the goalkeeper as his number one during Hugo Lloris’ time out due to an injury.
We’ve been seeing so many stories saying “in the next few hours” or “in the next few days” this window that it makes it difficult to believe in these deadlines. However, as other Spanish papers seem to agree the transfer is happening, it really looks like it’s a matter of time now.
