Barcelona want to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool this summer due to his versatility, and history of playing as a false nine.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who report that Barcelona believe he is a player who can match quality with his versatility.
They’re eyeing the Liverpool man as both a left-winger and a centre-forward, with 15 of his appearances under Arne Slot playing as a false nine this season.
Barcelona have compiled numerous reports on the Liverpool man, all of which show he is a winger who can also be decisive as a player at the top of the attack as well. Hansi Flick appreciates this, having used several players in his squad out of position this season.
He values that versatility and signing Diaz would not only provide a reinforcement on the left wing, but also as a back up to Robert Lewandowski.
Diaz has impressed in a central role for Liverpool this season, with 15 games as a centre-forward seeing him score five goals. Three of those were a hattrick against Bayer Leverkusen. He also started centrally in games against Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United. He bagged a brace against Spurs.
Those numbers and the scouting reports have seemingly convinced Barcelona.
