Former Lazio star Nando Orsi believes Paolo Di Canio needs to take responsibility after being suspended by Sky Italia. The former Sunderland manager has again landed himself in hot water after appearing on air with a tattoo perceived to be fascist.
Speaking to TMW, Orsi said he sees both sides of the argument, and believes both parties need to take responsibility for what happened. Orsi thinks Di Canio didn’t want to offend anybody with his actions, but advised the former Sunderland boss to cover up the tattoo with suitable clothing.
“I state that I am neither with one nor the other. And let me explain: Paolo decided to have his picture taken and Sky have made their decision. Everyone takes their responsibilities and I do not stand in judgment. I know Paolo and I do not think he’s ever offended anyone. Maybe in this case he could have got a shirt or long-sleeved top,” said Orisi.
Di Canio has had several ‘fascist’ controversies in his career, and as a player made right wing salutes to Lazio fans. Di Canio’s appointment as the Sunderland manager was met by disproval by some quarters because of his political alliances, which resulted in the club’s vice chairman David Miliband resigning.
