Brazilian football journalists based in England have a podcast called ‘Correspondentes Premier’, where they chat about the latest news and bring some of the recent interviews they’ve conducted with players and managers.

In their 195th edition this week, as they were talking about Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Manchester City, ESPN Brasil reporter Natali Gedra produced a recording of a conversation she’d had with Spurs winger Lucas Moura after the victory.

The 29-year-old, who was obviously glad with the win over Pep Guardiola’s side, was quizzed about Harry Kane’s situation at the club, given the interest from Manchester City.

The Brazilian made it clear that the squad has been apprehensive about the striker’s potential exit, but also insisted that the club will continue fighting with the right attitude should Kane depart.

“When there’s speculation like that with our best player, our greatest player, who is our reference… of course everyone gets tense, everyone is anxious to see what will happen, what the outcome of this story is,” said Lucas Moura.

“But we’re professionals, of course we have great players. Son knows how to do that function very well, as he did today, yet I really hope he stays with us. May he help us because he’s an important player. If he doesn’t stay, we know we have to focus here, we have to focus on what we have, and we can do a lot of good things too.”

Following Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday, Spurs now prepare to face Nuno Espírito Santo’s former side Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Sunday.

The manager insists Kane has been training well and he’s yet to decide whether the striker will feature at the weekend.
