Douglas Luiz’s scoring streak at Aston Villa is the reason he’s been getting big attention from the Brazilian media over the past 24 hours.
Following his brace against West Ham United, the midfielder now has six goals in 14 appearances for Unai Emery’s side this season.
Globo Esporte features a story showing he’s now the Brazilian with the most goals in Europe’s top five leagues this season
Quoted by Globo Esporte, Douglas Luiz talked about how happy he is to be in his current good form.
“I’m enjoying a moment of great fulfilment with my club, teammates and family. Everyone has helped me to perform at the level I am today,” said the Aston Villa player.
The midfielder then mentioned a specific priority he has in mind for this season.
“I’ve been working very hard on and off the pitch in pursuit of the season’s goals and returning to the defence of the Brazilian national team is one of the priorities. I’m hopeful that, when the time comes, every sacrifice will be rewarded.”
Following the 4-1 win over West Ham, Aston Villa stayed 5th in the Premier League, leaving the likes of Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United behind for now.
The Villans take a trip to the Netherlands this week, as they play AZ in the UEFA Europa Conference League, and then prepare to face Luton Town back in England next weekend.
