Towards the end of the last window, Everton made an attempt to sign Juventus’ Federico Gatti.

Calciomercato have a report providing background on the Toffees’ failed efforts and also the Serie A side’s plans for the 25-year-old’s future.

The defender was subject to ‘concrete attacks’ from the Premier League, with only Everton mentioned.

It’s claimed Sean Dyche’s side had contacted the Old Lady and the player’s entourage but were left disappointed after they received a ‘no, thank you’ as a response from both Juve and Gatti’s camp.

The report says Juve will reward the player with a new deal for his decision to brush off Everton’s concrete approach.

He has started in two league games and is expected to feature for the next month or so after Alex Sandro suffered an injury. Taking into account his recent displays and the ‘spirt’ shown by the player in recent years, Calciomercato state he deserves a new contract.

It’s said the Turin club will offer Gatti a new deal until 2028 and it will include an annual salary of €1.5m net per year. The outlet adds only the signature and announcement are missing for his renewal to be made official.

This is still a situation that’s worth keeping an eye on for Everton, especially if Gatti’s game time decreases as the season grows older.
