Juventus are working to tie down Federico Gatti to a new deal after turning down approaches from Everton for him this summer.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say Everton’s ‘advances’ were rejected throughout the summer transfer window.
The newspaper reports that the Toffees were keen to sign the 25-year-old this summer as they looked to bolster Sean Dyche’s defence before the end of the window.
Gatti, who is yet to properly break through at Juventus but is considered a player they want in the team moving forwards, appears to have been the man they wanted and he ‘received an offer’ from Everton as a result.
They want to further reinforce that point ‘definitively and concretely’ by locking down the defender to a new contract.
Discussions have begun for a contract renewal at the club that would see his deal extended until 2028 and the plan is to finalise that deal this month.
It would represent a further indication that they’re planning for him to be the future of the club and have no intention of selling him to Everton or anyone else.
