On Monday, Il Giorno explained Everton are planning a blitz for Duván Zapata after Frank Lampard specifically asked the Merseyside club to sign the Atalanta player in January.
It was also stated the Toffees have opened talks with the Serie A side, likely for a loan deal with an option to buy.
The Premier League side wanting the 31-year-old this month is further backed up Gianluca Di Marzio.
It’s said the Colombia international has been requested by Everton and they ‘will present a loan offer’ to Atalanta to secure his services. The report says this offer reflects his current situation. Zapata has managed one goal and two assists from 12 matches this season.
Should Everton submit the loan offer, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will reject it because they are not willing to let him go out on a temporary deal. Zapata has a contract until 2024 and Atalanta will only give the green light for his transfer if it’s through a permanent sale.
There’s no mention of whether Everton have plans to buy the South American in the winter market.
