Weston McKennie had a nightmare season when on loan at Leeds United from Juventus. It was the season which saw the Whites relegated from the Premier League, and the US international’s performances didn’t go down well with a section of the Leeds United support.
He was sent back to Juventus last summer and was very much for sale, even being told to train separately and for his agent to find a new club. That didn’t happen and somehow McKennie, to his credit, had a good season with the Turin club.
Not good enough for them to want to keep him, though. That’s partly down to his contract expiring in less than a year and no agreement on a renewal. According to Tuttosport, a newspaper local to Juventus, Everton have made contact in recent days.
Tuttosport say Juventus are looking for €15-20m to sell the midfielder, although there’s a chance they’ll need to come down from that.
For Everton it wouldn’t exactly be an exciting signing, especially after the player’s struggles at Leeds United. That said, it’s worth pointing out again that he did reasonably well last season.
