Gerard Deulofeu’s possible transfer is on the front page of Catalan newspaper Sport on Friday, which is no surprise given his cameo for Spain midweek. The Everton owned player came on as substitute and won a penalty before scoring a goal himself, it was quite the impact.
Every day the Catalan media cover the possibility of getting the player back from Everton this summer. Currently on loan at AC Milan, Barcelona can ensure Deulofeu’s return for a reasonable €12m in the next transfer window.
A new angle is Sport pointing out Deulofeu would be a bargain this summer at a transfer fee of €12m, but be even better value the summer after when his Everton contract ends.
Once again, it’s completely ignoring reality. When Everton signed Deulofeu, the Premier League club confirmed: ‘Deulofeu has put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract until the summer of 2018, with Everton having the option of a further year on the Spaniard’s deal.’
It may be worth Everton pushing the actual facts out to their friendly media, to counter the contradictions coming from Spain.
