Everton remain interested in a deal for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi but may need to beat Lyon and Real Betis to secure his signature.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the midfielder is on Everton’s list but now being actively targeted by the French side.
They explain that Lyon are working behind the scenes to improve their options in this transfer window and Ndidi is one of those being actively pursued.
Indeed, they would like to complete a deal for him as quickly as possible as he’s set to be available on a free transfer as his current contract with Leicester is set to expire this summer.
That makes him very attractive, even if Lyon are willing to put their hands deep into their pockets to do business this summer. They had already considered Ndidi last summer and now a deal is easier to get done, they’re back on the hunt.
The competition for him is fierce, though, with the fact he’s available on a free transfer drawing interest from other clubs, namely Everton and Real Betis.
They have ‘ticked off the name’ on their lists, in other words, they’ve now decided that a move would be viable and are pushing ahead to try and get him too.
Everton, in particular, can offer Premier League football and Premier League wages, although Lyon and Betis have European football to counter that.
Either way, the Toffees are in the mix and seemingly ready to compete with Lyon and Betis for the Leicester midfielder this summer.
