Despite having a fantastic World Cup for Russia in, well, Russia, Denis Cheryshev could be looking at a transfer this summer.

Earlier this month, Everton were said to be linked, with claims Villarreal would sell their winger for around €20m.

The Toffees are once again brought up, this time by AS, who explain Marco Silva’s side ‘have taken an interest in his acquisition’, although how advanced that is isn’t stated.

The Russian winger is expected to return from his holiday on Tuesday, but the Spanish newspaper state his stay could be ‘fleeting’, as he doesn’t feature in his manager’s plans for the upcoming season.

Having very recently signed Richarlison from Watford, it remains to be seen whether Silva requires another forward before the end of the transfer window, but if Cheryshev really isn’t wanted at Villarreal, perhaps there’s a bargain to be made.

With just 10 days left in the English transfer window, and few suitors for the Russian, Everton might be the La Liga side’s only hope of cashing in, and if €20m is too much, perhaps a lower agreement could be found.

We’ll have to wait and see.
