Everton have informed Marseille that they need to pay €8m if they are to sign Neal Maupay before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Le 10 Sport, who report that the French side are still ‘working hard’ to secure the Everton striker.
The outlet explains that Marseille have not finished with signings this summer despite a busy few months completely revolutionising Roberto de Zerbi’s squad.
Maupay is someone they would like to get through the door to cover for an injury to Faris Moumbagna, who has ruptured his cruciate ligaments.
They’ve already seen a loan bid rejected by Everton for the striker. And according to Le 10’s information, the Toffees are playing hard ball.
They report that Everton are demanding that Marseille sign Maupay on a permanent basis. They are not interested in letting him leave on loan. That makes sense given he’s in the final year of his current contract at Goodison Park.
As a part of that, Everton have made it clear they want €8m for the striker and won’t accept anything less.
Maupay, for his part, doesn’t have an agreement in place with Marseille but has made it clear he wants to join them.
It’s up to the French side to make a ‘new economic effort’ to get him, which may not be an easy matter given the money they’ve already spent this summer.
