At this point, it’s no secret that Everton are struggling in the Premier League, and they need help wherever they can get it.
Frank Lampard appears to be on his way out, but even if he does get sacked, the Toffees will need to add players to their squad somehow for the next manager.
Among players being looked at is Terem Moffi, currently having a good season with Lorient in France, where, alongside Everton, he is also being followed by Southampton.
The Saints appear to have already bolstered their squad in January with the expected arrival of Mislav Orsic from Dinamo Zagreb, but it seems they won’t stop there.
Southampton seem intent on giving Nathan Jones new tools to work with, and the Nigeria international could be one of them.
The news comes from Foot Mercato, who back up claims from England, who state both Everton and the St Mary’s club are ‘thinking about moving for him this winter’.
There’s no price mentioned, but we all know that the Toffees aren’t exactly flush with cash these days, meaning that some sort of creative transfer formula might need to be put together for them to get the 23-year-old (a loan with obligation to buy?), who has already scored 10 goals in 16 league games this season.
As for Southampton, we’ll have to wait and see if they make a move for another forward after the seemingly impending arrival of Orsic.
