Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has been on loan at PSV Eindhoven since last summer.
Operating as a centre-back, he’s made 17 appearances this season. It has convinced the Dutch club to make an effort to retain him beyond his loan spell.
The Eredivisie side don’t have an option or obligation to make the 20-year-old’s transfer permanent, which is why they opened talks with Everton to buy him.
Earlier on Monday, Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink stated Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side had failed to find an agreement with the Toffees to buy the defender.
Voetbal International now back it up and state the Merseyside club ‘reject the first offer’ made by PSV. Details of the proposal are not mentioned, but it has been deemed ‘insufficient’ by Everton.
Branthwaite has a contract at Goodison Park until 2025 and the Premier League side are not eager to let him leave. VI add Everton may ‘cooperate’ for Branthwaite’s transfer if they were to receive an offer between €7m and €10m.
It needs to be seen whether PSV will return with an improved offer in January or decide to postpone talks to buy him until the summer.
