Everton are ‘on pole’ position for Juventus defender Merih Demiral this summer, despite Carlo Ancelotti’s departure to Real Madrid.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say the Blues are leading the race for the Turkish defender.
Demiral has been heavily linked with a move away from Juventus for several months, and Everton have long been named as an interested party.
That interest was believed to be coming from manager Carlo Ancelotti, who was believed to be a big fan of the player following his time working in Italy.
Numerous reports have linked the Blues with a move, but after Ancelotti’s surprise departure earlier this week, it was felt such rumours would die down.
It seems that is not the case, though, with Corriere Dello Sport stating that Everton remain ‘on pole’ for the Turkish centre back.
He’s ‘waiting’ for the European Championships to decide his future, which suggests he’s hoping to star at the tournament and secure himself more suitors.
That suggests his name is one we could be seeing across the summer, although at the minute, the Toffees are at the front of the queue.
