Everton need €35m if they wish to sign Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia this summer but have so far offered just €18m plus Neal Maupay.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the Toffees have work to do if they are to sign the striker in the coming weeks.
Everton are desperately seeking a new striker this summer after struggling in that department last season thanks to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fitness issues and Neal Maupay’s poor performances.
Adding in that position is a priority and they had been targeting Almeria’s El Bilal Toure but his decision to join Atalanta now means an alternative is needed.
That man appears to be Dia and they’ve been pushing ahead with an effort to get him after missing out on El Bilal Toure.
Several reports have made it clear that Neal Maupay could be part of the deal as he is a long-term target for Salernitana director of football Morgan de Sanctis.
Corriere pick up on that today and state that Everton are aware of this and their current offer for Dia is €18m plus the French striker.
That seemingly won’t be enough to convince Salernitana into a sale, however, as they are asking for at least €35m to sell the striker this summer.
Thus, even with Maupay, who is valued at around €10m by the likes of Transfermarkt, the Toffees are short of the Italian side’s valuation for now.
Whether they up their bid or try to convince Salernitana remains to be seen but Everton’s decision to not move earlier this summer when Dia had a €25m release clause does not appear to have been a smart one.
