Turkish side Fenerbahçe are eyeing up a move for Everton defender Yerry Mina this summer as part of an overhaul of their squad.
That’s according to Türkiye Gazetesi, who say the Everton man is the ‘first name’ on manager and sporting director Emre Belozoglu’s list of possible defensive reinforcements.
The newspaper explains that, after assuming the manager’s position in an interim role, Emre has ‘stepped on the gas’ to address the shortcomings he’s seen in the squad.
He has ‘turned the course’ towards England and has made a goalkeeper and a defender his ‘priority’ for the summer.
There is a problem, though, and that is the face ‘it seems very difficult’ to convince both Mina and Everton to sanction a move.
Thus, they are only considering a loan deal at this moment in time.
Whether that is something Everton will sanction isn’t mentioned, but it seems unlikely, with Mina a regular under Carlo Ancelotti this season.
He has been linked with a move away in the summer, but even if he were to leave, it’s likely Marcel Brands would prefer to sell on a permanent deal and raise money to be spent elsewhere.
Of course, this is not the first time Mina has been linked to Fenerbahçe, with reports in 2019 stating that they were keen on a loan deal just a year after he arrived at Goodison Park.
That never happened, and it’s unlikely to happen this time either, but it is one to keep an eye on nonetheless.
