Leeds United’s failure to sign Edoardo Bove has opened the door for Everton to make an attempt for the AS Roma player, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
On Tuesday, Il Tempo said an intermediary had set up negotiations with Leeds for the 22-year-old. Despite Leeds’ interest, it’s difficult for them sign him because of their failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Il Tempo also stated the midfielder prefers a move to England, and Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi plans to sell him for €18-20m. That figure feels on the high side.
Di Marzio makes no mention of Leeds and talks about Everton’s interest in the Italian, and the Toffees taking further steps to sign him.
He claims Sean Dyche’s side have made an offer for the player, who has ‘opportunties to leave’ this summer.
The journalist hasn’t mentioned the fee offered by the Toffees, but says the ‘next few days’ will show if there’ll be ‘concrete developments’ in this case.
As well as Everton, AFC Bournemouth have made an offer to sign Bove. The Cherries have appointed former Roma general manager Tiago Pinto as their new chief, and he knows the player well from his time in Italy.
