Everton have ‘made contact’ for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot ‘in recent months’ ahead of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to But! Football Club, who say that the Blues remain interested in the French midfielder after courting him in the past.

The website explains that Rabiot has a contract with Juve that runs until 2023, but it is not certain he will see that out as his performances continue to disappoint.

While the Bianconeri are aware of the talent that Rabiot has, they see it too infrequently, and so they are looking at using him as a ‘sacrifice’ for their own transfer business.

There is an acceptance that it will not be easy to do so as he currently earns around €8m per year, but those in charge in Turin are hopeful his status as a French international can ‘boost the value’.

They have parties interested in him too, with it explained that Everton have ‘made contact’ in ‘recent months’.

They’ve been linked in the past, of course, but that very much came from having Carlo Ancelotti in the dugout.

There’s been no mention of interest since then, so this is a little surprising; even if it is well established, they need to reinvent their midfield in future.

Perhaps Rabiot remains one of several options they are looking at, although with wages as high as that, surely not one they’ll focus too hard on.

Indeed, Rabiot is the opposite of what Everton need, but given the transfer business at Goodison Park down the years, that wouldn’t stop them.
