Everton and Leeds United are in the picture to sign Salernitana star Boulaye Dia in the summer, according to La Città di Salerno.
The Italian club took the striker on loan from Villarreal and have an option to make his stay permanent for €12m. He’s scored 11 goals and registered six assists from 28 league games this season.
It has resulted in a ‘blitz’ from Everton, Leeds and AC Milan to sign the 26-year-old in the next window.
The Premier League duo have been following the player ‘for months now’. Everton, Leeds and the Rossoneri’s efforts to land the Senegal international is set to be hindered by the Italian club and the player himself.
Salernitana, for their part, intend to exercise the option to make his loan deal permanent.
Marco Di Vaio’s 12 goals in the 1998/99 season are the most goals scored by a player of the Italian side in the top flight.
Dia, who is one step away from creating history for the current club, is currently a goal away from matching Di Vaio’s record.
Amid interest from Everton, Leeds and Milan, Dia wants to continue at Salernitana and break records to leave his mark at the club. Therefore, the three sides’ ‘blitz’ to sign him would seemingly fail in the summer, but we all know money eventually talks.
