On June 27th, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Everton have made a firm move to sign Wilfried Gnonto in the summer window. The Toffees are not alone as Aston Villa are also in the mix for the Leeds United player.
That’s according to Alfredo Pedullà, who states the Villans and SC Freiburg have ‘lined up’ with Sean Dyche’s side to secure the forward’s services.
Aston Villa and the German club appreciate the 19-year-old’s profile and both have asked for information about him. It’s not made clear whether they have contacted the player or Leeds.
Unai Emery’s side and Freiburg have to step up their efforts to try and sign the teenager because the Merseyside club already took ‘important steps’ three weeks ago.
It’s claimed ‘Everton insist’ on signing the Italy international in this window, with him now having ‘little chance’ of playing in Serie A due to the price tag set by the Whites.
The report says Gnonto ‘will leave’ Leeds after their relegation from the Premier League and the Whites value him around €25m.
Gnonto managed four goals and four assists from 28 games for Leeds last season.
