Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion are in the picture to sign Yukinari Sugawara in the summer window.
That’s at least what Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg is reporting, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide a short update on the AZ Alkmaar player.
The right-back has scored four goals and registered eight assists from 41 matches this season, and has over a year left on his contract.
Plettenberg says the 23-year-old is a ‘key player’ for the Dutch club and his displays have caught the attention of Everton, Brighton and other clubs.
The journalist adds the Japan international is ‘very likely’ to leave the Eredivisie side in the next window, and is valued around €6m.
With an exit on the cards, several teams have enquired about the fullback, and the Sky expert says Everton, Brighton, Inter and VfL Wolfsburg all have the player on their target list.
However, he doesn’t specifically mention if these clubs are the ones to have made contact to sign Sugawara. Either way, the Toffees and Roberto De Zerbi’s side are likely to be in the battle for the AZ defender after this season.
