Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo is waiting for Everton to make their move before deciding on his future.
The young defender has spent the season on loan at Bundesliga side Schalke but is expected to return to Barcelona this summer.
His return will be a short-lived one, though, as Barça are keen to sell him so that they can raise funds for their own transfer business.
Several clubs have all been credited with an interest but none more so than Everton, who are known to be on the hunt for a centre back this summer.
Todibo is seen as an ideal option given his age and Marcel Brands’ desire to bring young, upwardly mobile players to Goodison Park.
Numerous reports have indicated that they were hoping to use their good relationship with Barcelona to their advantage, although, as yet, no deal has happened.
Mundo Deportivo go some way to explaining why that may be the case today in their report on Todibo’s future.
They explain that Barcelona are looking for €25m for Todibo this summer, a price that would see them make a huge profit on the €1m they paid Toulouse for him in 2019.
The defender has offers from the four main European leagues and particularly the Premier League, where Watford and Southampton are ‘interested in him’.
Everton’s interest, meanwhile, seems to have dwindled, with Todibo ‘waiting’ for them to do something in regards to the possible transfer.
What that means in anyone’s guess, although it seems to indicate the Blues have taken a step back from a potential deal at this moment in time.
That would certainly make sense, and fall in line with what they’ve been doing elsewhere, with other potential transfers also seemingly put on the backburner in recent weeks.
There’s every chance that’s a result of the Coronavirus outbreak, which has undeniably had an impact on clubs’ finances and their ability to spend this summer.
