Earlier this month, we covered multiple claims from Italy talking about Everton’s interest in Juventus’ Arthur Melo. The Premier League side aren’t alone as Leicester City are also keen on him.
That’s at least what journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting, and he mentioned Everton and Leicester when discussing Como 1907’s desire to sign the midfielder this summer.
The 27-year-old has returned to Juve after spending last season on loan at Fiorentina. Como have identified him as a target, and have asked for information about a transfer.
Arthur has interested parties outside Italy, where he is said to be ‘especially popular with Everton and Leicester’. The potential competition and the Brazilian’s salary would make it difficult for the newly promoted Serie A side to sign him.
There’s no mention of the former Barcelona man’s wages. Calciomercato, after relaying Di Marzio’s claim, then share their own update on this case.
Como are likely looking to sign the South American on loan as the report states they want the Old Lady to pay part of his salary. This ‘obstacle would not exist’ if the Turin club were to agree a deal with Everton or Leicester.
It’s claimed both the Toffees and the Foxes ‘would have no problem in bearing’ Arthur’s full salary of €4m per year, which could rise to €9m with bonuses.
